The European Center for Ethnic Studies (CESPE) was founded in 1991. In the first 10 years since it was established, CESPE focused on social communication issues.
Starting with 2002, CESPE’s team, structure and objectives were changed as stated above (see About us). CESPE’s current affiliation is to the Department for Economic Studies, Law and Sociology of the Romanian Academy.
CESPE’s main objectives are:
›› To elaborate studies and interdisciplinary researches regarding the ethnic structure and issues in Romania;
›› To create a database on these topics;
›› To elaborate studies on the impact of the European integration process on the preservation of national culture and identity.
