The European Center for Studies in Ethnic Issues, in partnership with the “Ion and Livia Piso” Foundation and the Maramureș County Council, organized the Athenaeum on the theme of Maramureș Dialogues, “Statehood and Its Challenges from the Middle Ages to the Present of Political Correctness,” on September 17, 2022, at the Documentary and Exhibition Center of the Romanian Nobility of Maramureș in Vișeu de Sus, Maramureș County. Under the patronage of master Ion Piso, the Documentary and Exhibition Center of the Romanian Nobility of Maramureș, through the “Ion and Livia Piso” Foundation, hosted in Vișeu de Sus (Maramureș) the second edition of the Athenaeum “Maramureș Dialogues – Statehood and Its Challenges, from the Middle Ages to the Present of Political Correctness.” Researchers from the Romanian Academy, from the European Center for Studies in Ethnic Issues, the Institute of Sociology, and the “Acad. Andrei Rădulescu” Institute for Legal Research commemorated on this occasion 70 years since the assassination of professor, theologian, and historian Alexandru Filipașcu (1902–1952) in the labor camp at the Danube–Black Sea Canal. On this occasion, the Bucharest School of Sociology’s perspective regarding the work and activity of Alexandru Filipașcu, a descendant of the Maramureș nobility of Dolha and Petrova, was presented to the public.
