The European Center for Studies in Ethnic Issues, in collaboration with the ASTRA Association, “Aurel Coza” Branch, Carei, organized the conference and book launch “The Current Situation of Romania’s Northwestern Border 100 Years After the Treaty of Versailles,” at the Károly Castle in Carei, Satu Mare County, during September 2–4, 2022. In Carei, on the occasion of the commemoration of 82 years since the Second Vienna Award, when Horthy’s Hungary annexed Northern Transylvania, a triple event took place: three institutes of the Academy—the Dimitrie Gusti Institute of Sociology, the European Center for Studies in Ethnic Issues, and the Institute for Legal Studies were present at the Károly Castle and launched three recent and relevant works for the Trianon order of Europe: The Current Situation of Romania’s Northwestern Border 100 Years After the Treaty of Versailles, Research Report – coordinated by Prof. Dr. Radu Baltasiu; Trianon. Historical and Geopolitical Studies – acad. Ilie Bădescu, Dr. Cristi Pantelimon, Prof. Dr. Radu Baltasiu, Dr. Ioan Lăcătușu, Dr. George D. Mocanu, and Ciprian Hugianu; The Foundations of National Justice. The Treaty of Trianon and Romanian Legal Consciousness – Dr. Tudor Avrigeanu. The work presented by CESPE is the first Romanian sociological research on the western border in the last half century. In addition, CESPE also presented, as a premiere, the photographic exhibition “The Visit of King Ferdinand and Queen Marie to Carei – May 25, 1919.”
